The Biewer Breed Club International, BBIC has developed it's
own registry for Biewers here in North America. Under
advisement from reputable breeders in Germany  we feel it is
important to start a registry here.  As people who are born in any
given country acquire their birth certificates in accordance with
their native country, so it should be with the Biewers.

This registry is available to the public and not only to the
members of the BBCI.  It is called “Biewer Breed International
Registry”, BBIR.  It is a private registry with no information
shared without permission.

This registry will by keep accurate information which has been
supplied by current recognized German registries.  From there
we are developing our own database complete with pedigrees
and litter registrations. This will be the beginning of the
recognition of the Biewers in North America.

Accurate record keeping is vital to responsible breeding.  This is
to ensure that all future generations are and will be kept pure,
and also, the first step in having the Biewers accepted and
acknowledged by various organizations that require that accurate
data be kept.

The pedigrees will be permanent and transferable to new or
future owners.  The pedigrees will show (4 or 5) generations of
parentage.  They will also include detailed information such as
kennel name, breeding rights, etc.  This will be detailed on the
application forms.  Each breeder has a right to specify their own
details.

Above all, the most important aspect of registering with the BBIR
is that
ONLY Biewer to Biewer breeding for litter registration is
accepted
.

We are a safe and secure registry for everyone to trust.  The
future will hold many generations of Biewers.  With this registry,
we will be able to see the True Biewer develop into a beautiful
and strong breed, while keeping the lines as diverse as we can.

We will also continue to register our Biewers with our reputable
registries in Germany.

What you will receive with registration of your Biewer is an authentic BBIR (laminated
for security purposes)  Registration Paper with our BBIR embossed seal.  It will include
the information that you have submitted on your application.  This will be issued for
either a Foreign or Domestic dog.

For the litter registration, as a breeder, you will be supplied with a letter of registry and
individual forms for each dog for you to supply to the new owners, which then can be
returned to us for permanent registration as stated above.  Pedigree's will either be 4 or 5
generations and will be full sized and again, laminated for security purposes.

These will be documents that you can be proud of and will last indefinitely.

The BBCI is proud to offer our DNA Certification Profiling program. As of January 1,
2008,
we have contracted with MetaMorphix®, Inc. MMI Genomics Inc. laboratory for
analysis services. The resulting registration with DNA certification will offer integrity
beyond question and add value to breeding programs. It is a requirement for BBIR
registration and is recorded in the BBIR stud book. It is required for imported breeding
stock; dogs whose semen is collected for fresh-extended, chilled or frozen use; and is
required prior to breeding sires and dams. BBCI/BBIR has a strict confidentiality policy
regarding its database and DNA profiles.

What:
Each gene is present as two copies and are displayed as letters for the purpose of labeling
each gene. Offspring receive one copy of each gene from each parent in a random
process. DNA sequences are also inherited one copy from each parent.

This technology does not use actual genes, but tests the DNA sequences that are
inherited one copy from each parent. For this reason, your dog's DNA Profile does not
provide any information about the conformation of the dog or the presence/absence of
genetic diseases, and cannot determine the breed of a dog

Why:
To ensure the integrity of the BBIR registry.
Guarantees continuity from one generation to the next
Eliminating concerns or questions about identification and parentage

BBIR Database and Parentage Verification - Comparison of the DNA profiles of a dam,
sire, and pup(s) will determine, with greater than 99% confidence, whether the pups are
from the tested dam and sire. The BBIR database examines the parentage of all BBIR
DNA Profiled registered dogs and litters

When problems are discovered, the DNA staff works with breeders to determine correct
parentage at the breeder's expense.

Future breed recognition. UKC and AKC accept MMI DNA profiles into their stud books.

How:
Contact BBCI’s DNA representative, Carolyn Arnold, for a DNA Test Kit which includes
a swab that the owner uses to collect loose cells from inside the dog's cheek. Complete
instructions will arrive with your kit.

You will receive Certificate of DNA Analysis with your dog’s information and a
representation of the DNA Profile. Also, your BBIR registration certificate will reflect
that your dog has a DNA profile recorded in the stud book of the Biewer Breed
International Registry, and future pedigrees will reflect that a DNA Profile is on record
for that sire or dam.
Cost:

BBCI was able to negotiate a small price break for our club. Your kit is priced at our cost
plus a small amount for postage. Nothing was added for the club and the Rep’s time is
on a volunteer basis. The price will be renegotiated with the company at the end of 6
months and will be dependant on volume. As of January 1, 2008 the kit price per dog is:
$50.00 + 1.00 postage/handling = $51.00 per dog.
